Recently on Valentine’s Day, wedding.com.my and M.I.C.E.@One City held a green themed celebration with the overlying theme of “I’m FINished with Fins,” in support of raising awareness on the extinction of sharks and the exclusion of sharks fin in wedding banquet menus.
The two-day #VDay2015 celebration kicked off on Valentine’s Day itself with Wedding Wonderland, a bridal expo showcasing green, eco-friendly wedding ideas at the Grand Ballroom of One City.
That night itself, 100 couples participated in the Mass Romantic Dinner. Couples only had to pay RM199 for two persons and they were treated to a tantalizing 4-course dinner with entertainment by Peony Romance, KL Mobile DJs, celebrity appearances with performances, lucky draws and prizes.
The next day, the celebration continued as over 40 couples donned a wedding gown and suit, or a sharks suit and participated in a race around Kuala Lumpur. The Shark Saver Couple Challenge was held to raise awareness on the importance of shark conversation for the stability of the marine eco-system.
The celebration was held in collaboration with global shark savers NGO, Wildaid Shark Savers. According to the latest TRAFFIC report, Malaysia is ranked 8th globally for shark catchment, and 4th for shark fin imports.
