Things That Malaysian Brides Wished They Change For Their Wedding

We have seen it all. We have seen a dream wedding turned into disaster instead. We have seen a simple wedding turn into an amazing one. It is safe to say we have seen every type of wedding. We feel like Malaysian brides and grooms to be these days over think too much. Whether in deciding which vendors to choose or it’s to have a grand or simple wedding. We have looked and asked around if there are things that these Malaysian brides wished they could have changed on their wedding day. From picking out the perfect theme to the littlest things.

Hire a videographer and photographer

Malaysian brides have said it. At first, to them hiring a (professional) videographer and photographer is a total waste of money. Because these days they cost more than an arm and a leg. But they soon realized that hiring a videographer and a photographer means a lot rather than to have an extravagant wedding. These Malaysian brides have also said that they should have spent more on videographer and photographer so they would not regret later on (like right now). To those who have hired a videographer and photographer to capture the moment on their wedding day, they also said they wished they have picked a more talented and a professional one. Because if they had, the money they have spent would have been worth it. But it turns out the photos and the videography they received was not in a high quality and not what they expected.

Say ‘yes’ to the right dress

This is what our Malaysian brides could not have stressed enough. Say ‘yes’ to the right dress. Just because your mother likes seeing you wearing, does not mean it will look good on you. Just because your best friend recommended you the dress, does not mean you will feel good in it. Find the dress that will make you look in the mirror and unconsciously you say, “wow.” Find that dress. Find the dress that will make you feel good and look good. It’s good to hear for some ideas and to have some input from your family and friends. But remember, this is your wedding. Our Malaysian brides have warned you enough on this.

Set up a seat chart

Yes, here in Malaysia do not have this kind of culture. We go to a wedding, find an empty seat and reserve the other seat of our friends or family. We don’t have a seating chart to refer to. Our culture here is different. But our Malaysian brides here highly recommend to those who are having a wedding soon should prepare a seating chart for the guest. Because they certainly wished they could. A seating chart would help every guest to be able to sit and not blindly wait for another guest to leave. Because some guests have complained to them that there weren’t enough seat for them to sit. A seating chart may seem like a small and fuss thing to stress about. But it will be helpful for you and your guest. That is if you care for your guests.

Comfort is a priority

Beauty does hurt, ladies. But to our dearest Malaysian brides, our advice to you is choose comfort instead of beauty. Because our real Malaysian brides regret this the second we asked one of the things they regret they did on their wedding day. Comfort does not mean you should wear sneakers instead of high heels. Although, that would have been awesome! Like Hayley Williams, the Paramore’s vocalist. But choose the shoes that you can wear for long hours. Choose the one that you can walk back and forth to one guest to another. It’s going to be a long day, so avoid wearing the torture heels, because they are evil of all.

Intimate instead of inviting the whole nation

Some of our Malaysian brides answers to our “wedding day regrets” were, they wished they had a more intimate wedding. Intimate wedding means they could have a wedding that requires their guests to RSVP. They wished they could have kept a track on their wedding guest instead of inviting the whole Malaysia to their wedding. One of the reasons was because they felt they did not even had the chance to meet and greet their guest. The other reasons were because there were too many people and the food were not enough or it’s too much they had to waste.

Allocate a budget (!!!)

Not only our Malaysian brides, but even we here at Wedding.com.my are stressing this enough. Allocate a budget for your wedding. Doesn’t matter big or small, allocate! Then stick to the budget. Don’t go overboard. Your wedding day is a special day for you and your partner. But that does not mean you have to spend all of your savings. A wedding is only a one day event. You are going to have to buy a house, a car, although you already have them, the future is not a guaranteed one for you. You might have a big family that requires you to have a big car. Or a bigger house. Just because you want to have that one day a special day, does not mean you have to spend. Money does not buy you a happiness.
