“Love conquers all”. Would you stop jittering if I were to tell you that?
Remember that special day when he was so nervous to ask you out? Almost stuttering and barely audible, he stood right in front of you nervously with his hands clasped together looking right into your eyes. And there you were, cheeks flushed hot it could catch fire. Your heart was beating so fast because the man you have been raving about to your best friend for ages was standing inches away from you. ‘Will you go out with me on a date?’ he finally mumbled between breaths.
And that was the beginning of a sweet journey you had never expected to happen in a million years. It took you hours to get ready for the first date. Contemplating between that little black dress and floral skirt, you stood in front of the mirror and wondered which looked better on you. Dusting a little blush on your cheeks, you hoped it does not appear as overdoing it on a first date and crossed your fingers in hopes your hair will stay that way throughout the night. The doorbell finally rang. You rushed to get it but your father has beat you to it. Being the overprotective father, he questioned your date with a dozen questions which he answered gracefully praying he would pass the test. The date was perfect in every way you could ever imagine. It hit off so well, you started going out with him more frequently.
As we know, the journey was not so fairytale-like. Those nights when you both argued, it hurt so bad you could feel your heart breaking into pieces. Nights like this usually seem long. You would run to your room crying, slam the door shut and throw yourself onto the bed. You cried so hard your mascara starts to smear down your cheeks but you could not be bothered. You held your knees close to your chest, wondering how could a perfect night ended with so much heartbreak. He called you every five minutes but you were too stubborn to answer. He dropped long apologetic messages but you refused to reply. You finally gave in when he made a few sweet gestures bringing some flowers over while apologizing profusely.
Years later when you worked hard for the job you really love but stress came to you. It was hard to see the road ahead but he was there. He took you into his arms and comforted you. “Everything will be okay,” he whispered. You knew he was right, everything seems to be fine whenever he is with you. He was there during the ups and downs. He has never given up on you and encouraged you. You appreciate each and every effort he has done to keep you contented.
He finally proposed and without any hesitation, you said yes. You picked the perfect dress for the perfect occasion. You planned every detail of the wedding to make sure it is the most anticipated wedding of the century.
The long awaited day has finally arrived. You put on the dress and inspect all its elements as the fabric lies on your skin. You stand in front of the mirror and stare at yourself. Before you can stop yourself, thoughts start to flow into your mind. Do not doubt yourself. Remember those times when he completed your sentences; when you fell he was there to pick you up; when you gave up on yourself and he still pushed you on; when you were down and his silly jokes make you laugh like no one else did. You were made perfect for each other. He is your best friend, listener, companion, loyal fan and sweetest lover.
