By Melissa Chan

Now, you are going through your pre-wedding photo shoot, and everything when so well. Of course, you are extremely happy, but tired at the same time, after an entire day (or two) doing your photo shoot.

However, do you know that removing your bridal make-up and hair do after your pre-wedding photo shoot and on your actual day is just as important as selecting your make-up and hair artist? Many brides are tired and drained after the entire event whether it’s a pre-shoot or the actual day itself. With all the planning, running around, the stress, keeping in shape, etc, many brides will just have an ‘express’ removing session for their face and hair.

This is an absolute NO-NO! After a full day of running about with make-up on, your skin is filled with dirt, dust, sweat, impurities and stress. Best is to invest in a good, skin care products that are SUITABLE with your skin type, and know the proper way of keeping your skin and hair clean. Here are few simple steps of removing your bridal make-up and hair do:

Make-up

Our eye contour areas are the most fragile and sensitive amongst our face, do not rub or pull too hard while removing your make-up. Soak up some cotton pads with the make-up remover and leave on your eye contour areas for few 30 seconds. This way the remover will ‘soften’ the make-up and the glue for your flash eyelashes, and gently remove it. For waterproof mascara, use the same method, but by wiping ‘out-wards’ on your lashes only.

Tips: Try the two-phased eye make-up remover which is great for both eyes and lips. Preferred au naturale, go for olive or coconut oil.

Use make-up remover for the face. Soak up few cotton pads and gently wipe your entire face, and especially the hairline and jawline areas.

Tips: Get a milk cleanser which is great for all skin types. If not, you may use oil: baby oil, cleansing oil, coconut oil and olive oil. Always follow by a second cleanse, to make sure your skin is thoroughly cleansed from make-up remover itself, and the impurities.

Once you have remove and cleanse your face, follow up with your choice of aftercare like eye cream, face cream, and / or sunscreen if you are going out during the day.

First step, gently remove all the accessories that are on your hair. Get your hubby to help, especially the hard to reach areas and those tiny little black hair pins. Once done, shake loose your hair (do it in the bath room to avoid those glitters falling onto your room) and rinse with shampoo. Next, use apple cider (*mixed 1 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of  apple cider) to rinse your hair. Leave it for few minutes and wash off with shampoo.

Note: Apple cider is a great product to remove styling products on your hair. *The measurement is on a generic basis, you may go accordingly to your hair thickness and length. Finally, apply your conditioner and rinse off as usual.
