“Everything just gets on my nerves!” – Tips To Reduce Pre-Wedding Stress

Preparing for a wedding can be highly stressful. Between caterers, outfits, traditions, customs, expectations and a million other things, most couples have more than their fair share of stress to deal with in the weeks leading up to the wedding.

How to reduce stress?

To reduce the amount of stress, enlist the help of those closest to you.

1) Friends and relatives are always eager and willing to lend a helping hand. Pick people you know you can count on and delegate the work. They can help shortlist caterers, look for bands, photographers, decorators, and printers, among other things. Although you make the final decision, a shortlist would save time as you wouldn’t have to search for everything yourself.

2) Siblings and cousins would come in handy with drawing up the guest list. They could prepare a draft seating plan for you to review and edit as necessary. They could also help to call relatives and friends who haven’t sent through their RSVP.

Having a good support group to help coordinate the wedding will be a relief on the day itself. You can rest assured that everyone in the team knows their role, and will be able to handle any issues that come up. This frees you up to enjoy your big day.

3) During the tense weeks leading up to the wedding, you may feel like your whole lives are centered around wedding preparations. Have a ‘wedding-free‘ night every week when you are not allowed to discuss anything wedding related. Go out on a date, or just spend some time together. Remind yourselves why you’re going through this madness in the first place.

4) Don’t forget some ‘me‘ time. Do something that you would normally do to relax without your other half. Go for an early session at the gym, or a full body massage to loosen those knots and get that blood circulating! A healthy, relaxed trooper is a happy trooper.
