Checklist For The Night Before & The Day of Your Malaysian Wedding

Ah, it’s almost the time of your wedding day! This day will mark the day you and the love of your life will spend the rest of your life together. Hours before a wedded bliss! It should be surreal and overwhelming. This checklist will help you prepare for your wedding day! Won’t worry about the rest. The rest will all up to fate. All you have to do is be prepared—and have fun! Don’t forget to have fun. It is your wedding day after all.

Checklist #1: Pack your essentials in a small clutch

This is important. If you have your own makeup bags that you bring along in your handbag whenever you go for shopping or for a day out, then you have to do the same on your wedding day. Trust us, these essentials will help you get through the day on your wedding day. In this Malaysia’s weather, you are going to sweat a lot (unless your wedding is inside a hotel) and your face will get greasy. So if you pack along an oil blotting paper in your clutch, it will help you from looking like you just slather yourself with oil. If you have your own maid of honor, then you can ask her to hold the clutch for you. The things you can pack are:

  1. Treatment/Mint Lip Balm
  2. Oil Blotting Papers
  3. Compact Powder
  4. Deodorant
  5. Small Size Perfume
  6. Small Sized Facial Tissue
  7. Pins/Brooch (if you are a hijabi)
  8. Hairpins
  9. Hairbands
  10. Lipstick (that you are wearing during your wedding day)

Checklist #2: Stay Hydrated

Again, in this Malaysia’s weather, you have to stay hydrated. Don’t worry about smudging your lipstick. What’s more important than staying hydrated and healthy without looking tired? Besides, you have your essential clutch along with you so you can ask your MoH (Maid of Honor) to reapply the lipstick for you. Drink a lot the night before too to avoid being dehydrated from all the running and stress. Water is going to be your BFF from now on.

Checklist #3: Grab A Pair of Flip Flops

From all the running and walking with those high heels, you are going to get blisters. Bring along your favorite fancy flip-flops along so you can wear when you are too tired to walk in those heels. People won’t judge you, instead you will be the talk of the town because of how spontaneous and relaxed you are during your wedding. So it’s okay to wear flip-flops by the end of the day. You even suggest this to your soon-to-be husband so he’ll be more at ease.

Checklist #4: Send a Love Note To Your Groom

This is rare in Malaysia. WE don’t know about you, but we have never seen or heard any Malaysian brides and grooms ever send each other a love note. So why not start now? Write a letter beforehand for your soon-to-be husband to read on your wedding day before he arrives at the ceremony. You can pass the note to anyone beforehand to make sure he reads before he sees you. He’s going to love this. Although it’s not much, it’s the thought that counts right?

Checklist #5: Confirm with Vendors

This is important! Confirm with all the vendors three days before your wedding day to avoid any circumstances. Make sure they know where to set up and when to show up. Now’s the perfect time to tell who they are going to deal with when you are not around on that day. You might want to choose your mom or your sister because they’ll know more about the arrangements.

Checklist #6: Lend Your Phone To Your MoH

You are going to get reaaally busy during your wedding day. With the makeup, the dress, the hairdo, the preparations, it’s going to be hectic that you won’t have the time to look at your phone. So let your MoH hold your phone through the day to reply any messages, any Whatsapp notification, and pickup any phone calls so you can relax and think about something else.

Checklist #7: Eat Healthy

Hold the temptations and cravings to eat McDonalds and Burger King and eat more of fresh fruits and healthy snacks. Hold down the temptations for just a night and then you can eat whatever you want. So the night before your wedding day, have your mom or your maid to prepare a healthy meal so you can be assured that you won’t be bloated and sick the next day.
