8 Tips to Buy The Perfect Wedding Gown Online!

I’m an avid online shopper. I prefer to browse the selection of clothes in the comfort of my own home, without the annoyance of a crowd or pushy sales assistants. In spite of my preferences, I was very concerned when my cousin opted to buy her wedding gown online. This prompted a research on an online shopping guide for the biggest day in a girl’s life.

Visit a bridal shop and try on some gowns. This will help you identify styles that complement your body shape, fabrics you like and colours that suit your skin tone. Ask the sales assistant for the name of the style/fabric/colour you like so you will know what to look out for when you shop online.
Look for a tailor who can do alterations that may be required. Ask for references or photos of her satisfied clients in their wedding gowns. You should be able to gauge the quality of her work based on these photos.
Get your tailor to measure your bust, waist and hip, as well as the length you want the dress to be. Remember to consider your wedding shoes when determining the length of the dress.
Now search online. Read the description given on the gown you like – the fabric used, the type of lining, where the gown was made etc.
Different designers have different sizing policy. Check the measurements given for the different sizes. If your exact size is not available, opt for the one that’s slightly bigger so it can be altered to fit you perfectly.
Some online gown vendors provide swatches of the fabric so you can see the colour, quality and feel of the material. Find out of the vendor carrying the gown you like does this.
Be aware of the shipping, cancellation and returns policy. What should you do if you’re not satisfied with the gown? What if it arrives damaged? If you need additional that is not available on the site, speak to the customer service team.
Purchase from a reputable vendor. There are a lot of scammers out there, offering ‘designer’ gowns at unbelievable prices. If it’s unbelievable, don’t believe it. Go with the vendor you can trust.
