5 People You Don’t Want at the Wedding (but No Choice!)

wedding invitation list

Some guests automatically get in the wedding invitation list no matter how tempting it is to cross off their names. But as long as you know where to put them, unwanted guests don’t have to ruin your big day. Let’s meet the top nuisances you’ll call.

1. Bridesmaid’s Weirdo Boyfriend

Sometimes it is hard to accept every single individuality. You may not agree with his strange behaviour, but your bridesmaid loves him. Don’t forget that she has gone through so much with you in your wedding planning. How you wish he’s just a random fling.

Instead of gathering all bridesmaids and their dates at one large table, spread them out, mingle them around. Not only can you avoid the bridesmaid’s boyfriend, this will also keep some of your guests at the corner tables from feeling petty.

2. Wedding Planner Aunty

Apart from the point that she has helped to work out your entire wedding, it gets… well, kind of awkward to have her at your wedding ceremony since she’s just an acquaintance. But hey, she is your number one expert on the big day to handle all the embarrassing disasters (touchwood)!

Make her feel welcomed. Sometimes, we aren’t the only ones who feel awkward at the presence of some stranger. Treat her like a real guest. Settle her at a table with your great aunts. Who knows, they could be good friends in one night!

3. Cousin You Barely Know

You might have been the best friends ever 20 years ago, but now, you guys haven’t even talked since the last family gathering. What gives? She’s your family. When it probably would be unpleasant explaining as to why there isn’t any invitation card for her, isn’t it much less complicated to just include everyone on the list?

Arrange her at a table with relatives she knows. Otherwise if she’s the outgoing type, mix her in with some of your friends. Having mutual friends helps to pull the bond closer between you two anyway.

4. Your Ultimate Superior

Well, if you hadn’t been browsing through wedding sites hours over hours during work, boasting about your wedding preps to colleagues, this isn’t a problem at all. But you did! And not inviting her over might appear a little mean and disrespectful.

So courteously invite your boss along with her significant half. At least, she’ll have someone to entertain her throughout your wedding. Get your close work buddies to come along. They could occupy one table for good.

5. Fiance’s Annoying Partner in Crime

So there’s this guy who kept teasing you hurtfully, and lucky or not, he’s one of your fiance’s best partners! Urgh, brides would understand that feeling. You don’t want him to spoil your mood on that beautiful day, but not having him in would upset your fiancé way more than it would advantage you.

Forget about the past for now. Spare him a seat with other singles. Or maybe, get him to bring along his own partner. As much as he would like to annoy you, you’ll be too occupied visiting other guests to even notice his presence on that day.

So here you go! Our top 5 “don’ts” on wedding invitation list. 🙂
