3 Steps To Make a Marriage Last

Marriage and love are not all about sparkles and butterflies. It takes a lot of work to make a marriage last longer. In fact, it takes both of you to make an effort to prioritise a few things in your marriage and accept them as part of your life.

Communication

We’ve heard it umpteen times, but honestly, communication is the most important thing to keep a marriage going. It’s just so easy to assume that after being with someone for a time, you already know everything about them. But the truth is, you don’t. You will be learning new things about your partner each day. There’s much more to both of you grow together and learn about each other. If you feel like your communication with your other half has been nothing but repetitive, try asking an open-ended question, and you’ll see the difference in no time.

Love Gesture

Understanding your partner love language is so crucial because we speak the different love language. The way we talk, the way we show our love and our actions towards them. For instance, when your significant other makes little gestures like washing the dishes, cooking or even doing the chores. It’s all part of the love that they are trying to show, an act of services. However, our approach to love comes in a different form, but the most essential in a lasting marriage is quality time together.

Accept arguments with an open heart

More often than not, couples will argue about little things and complain to each other. But these are the most crucial thing in lasting marriage because, in the midst of arguing, you will realise there are a lot of things that you don’t know. There will always be a different point of view in a marriage, and it’s completely normal to argue once in a while. You share things that you agree and don’t agree with each other. An argument is never trying to win but merely voicing your opinions to your significant other. So, learn to embrace the arguments and know each other better. It might not be pleasant to hear things or argue little things, but you need to accept it with an open heart. It’s a way towards a healthy relationship.
